Discover the playful, student-centered world of Orff-Schulwerk in this interactive session. You’ll learn engaging ways to introduce new musical concepts, teach instrumental pieces with minimal notation, and scaffold your instruction to get students improvising quickly.

Biography

Darrius Langston teaches K–5 general music in Orlando, Florida. He has completed Orff-Schulwerk Teacher Education Levels I–III. He has presented workshops for the Central Florida and Tampa Bay chapters of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, Pinellas County Schools, Seminole County Public Schools, and Orange County Public Schools.
Since 2021, Darrius has been a contributor to the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra’s Young People’s Concert Teacher Guidebook. He served as a past co-chair of the Orange County Public Schools Elementary All-County Chorus and currently serves as a co-chair of the OCPS Elementary All-County Orff Ensemble. He is a member of the FMEA Conference Planning Committee and has participated in the FMEA Teach Music Florida Coalition.
Darrius earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Florida State University in 2006.
